i want to strip my tint and re-tint the whole truck... my dad tinted his whole truck by himself (he is more patient than me) what does everyone here think/know about window tinting?


and the other thing, does anyone know a good place to shop for OEM parts (cadi OEM parts) other than ebay?

Unless you go to a supply store, the quality of tint at an auto parts store (Checker, Autozone, Napa, etc) is nowhere near the quality you will find at a good shop.

I have a guy at 32nd St. / McDowell that does a GREAT job... for really cheap. (I think he quoted me $165 for the 'hoe) I've had him do all of my last 5 cars.... except for the Tahoe (he was closed when I went down there, and I wanted it done NOW) I would de-tint it yourself. You will save some $$ by doing it that way... otherwise, you'll probably pay a good amount.

its im possible to strip the tint on the factory glass, its inbedded in to the glass. You can tint over it. But i have read here and on other forums you cant get rid of the factory tint. :au:

its not factory.. i believe it is 15% all the way around, i want %5 in the back and 15% front 2 and 85% on the windshield

o im sorry, didnt know that. I thought GM had factory tint for the rear windows though.

and it might... i bought it with the 15% already installed and its a little scratched up, im pretty sure the previous owner had kids who liked to play with keys :zav:

It's not actual tint... it's smoked privacy glass. It only provides a "smoked' look, it does not provide the other benefits of tint (namely the U/V and heat protection)... but to clean up the tint, he's going to have to remove the old stuff. The guy I know will do ANYTHING you want... :thumbsup: PM me for details.
