troubleshooting help please, possible fuel pump

Hey all,

'98 Tahoe. For a short while now, it's been hard to start. It'll start out just cranking, then go to almost starting before it dies, to finally just starting. (all of this within a couple minutes) After that, runs well. Well, today after work, it's doing nothing. I'm suspecting the fuel pump.

do you hear the fuel pump priming when you try to start it?

I might also look into the starter. Usually if a fuel pump is going, it will just die and won't start back up again, but you said it runs fine once it's started.

I cannot hear the fuel pump. I'm going to borrow a fuel pressure gauge this weekend and see what I can do with it.

The fuel pump has a Relay under the hood they cost $14.00 try that.

it do sound like the pump.
mine started up in the morning but as the day went on cutting it off and on i was wandering why it took long cranking it for it to finally start.

i thought my timming got off. 95 yukon
