yea i found it, its like behind the throttle body. Do you think i could just clean it out with like brake cleaner or something, bucz those are kinda pricy, and if thats all it does is lower emissions, then screw it, i wont replace it. now if it somehow gets better mpgs then ill consider, getting 12 isnt cutting it.. lol.. or should i just go to the junkyard and find a 350 and just pocket-it out.. i mean i guess one of those would work..

I have heard or people taking the hose off it while running and putting the hose in a cup of water and letting it slowly sip the water and its supposed to break up what ever is clogging it

sure, take it off, clean it down with carb cleaner, or brake cleaner. also clean insde the manifold area where the pintle of the egr meets the base of the egr. i would also spray some wd-40 or equivalent on the egr shaft, it needs to move freely, it may be sticking due to carbon, good luck.

once its cleaned you should get atleast 30mpg. lol. a poorly functioning egr can cause the vehicle to run subpar, thus reducing gas miliage. that being said 30 mpg is a bit much on my calculations, 29.5 mpg sounds more like it. good luck. post your findings.

You need the EGR valve so that your ECU can properly manage your engine, otherwise it will run like crap. Any error codes can cause your computer to run in an open loop, causing engine management problems.

EGR valves do go, it is a fairly common thing, just like O2 sensors go. I replaced mine early on this year... but I don't remember it being that expensive. Autozone shows them being in the $50 - $70 range, but I swear I don't remember paying that much. Maybe I got a remanufactured on? Doubt it. Wierd. It is a pretty common part considering all the TBI 350's had them I believe. Just go to the junkyard and yank one.

you can double that 30mpg by letting the hose sip a full can of beer. it only lasts for a few hours though, and then your truck will run like crap tomorrow. but then it will go away.
