About 5 months ago my 97 4wd tahoe started not down shifting. I noticed when i would come to a red light is sounded and felt like i was in 3rd gear starting out. I took it to my local tran shop and they replaced my 3-2 shift solinod. Just a month after that my tran case cracked and replaced with a used tran same year 97. Now my tran is doing the same thing starting out at a red light in 3rd gear. I thought it might be a computer issue. A buddy of mine said to connect the positive and negitice leads together on my battery said it might be a capacitor or diode issue. I am streching here any advice or help please....

WHOA!!!! DONT CONNECT POSITIVE/NEGATIVE LEADS together on your BATTERY, JUST DONT..........

Check the fuse that feeds power to the transmission, and surrounding wiring, if the trans looses that B+ feed it WILL start in 3rd IIRC.....
