My hoe is 02 5.3l and it has I believe it has a trans cooler already. What I understand that the trans line gets cooled in the rad with the heated engine oil. IS THIS CORRECT?

What is the running temps should the trans be and the engine be? Anyone knows this?

If I decided to add a after market trans cooler are there any suggestions?

I want to be able to tow from the NE across the country one day.

I have a scantool mx it is showing me a running temp around 180/190. Just got back from a local ride to town and that's about 19 miles each way and the scantool mx reading about 190. The ride mostly 55 mph.

Any suggestions thanks

Factory radiator coolers are usually just a coiled hard line inside the radiator, maybe 6 to 8 inch long.(at least on my 99) I would go with an aftermarket cooler and make sure you install it in the front of the radiator. Leave the stock set up there and just cut in (so to speak) the aftermarket one. I believe the normal operating temps are 190 with normal loads, which is fine. You vehicle needs that temp in order for certain things to operate at peak efficiency.
As far as towing, the heavier the loads the harder/hotter things will run/work.
