Tranny gear selector little stubborn when cold

Just bought used 2010 Tahoe and when the tranny is cold it is a little stubborn moving gear selector into D and am unable to select M mode - it's a 6 speed. Once temperature reaches about 150 I can select manual mode and gear selection is easier. Anyone have an issue like this in the past?
