Ok I have a 04 tahoe 4 wheel drive when I take off I here a grinding sound and the traction assit light comes on. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to do it. Any body else had this problem. Also if you turn the traction assit button off it won't do it. Any suggestions.

does the grinding noise come from under the driver side dash?

i had a similar sounding problem on my 05 yukon, every time i would start moving from a stop i would hear this noise from under the dash and if i turned off the traction control the noise went away. it turns out that the noise was the traction control activating. the traction active sign would also pop up on the dash.

my dealer found the problem to be a damaged ABS sensor on the front hub, it was giving a false reading of the wheel speed and activating the traction control.

i was able to locate the receipt and this is what it said.

confirmed and found the left front wheel speed sensor to not pick up wheel speed as fast as the other sensors causing a false loss of traction and in turn turning on thraction control. found left front hub bearing reluctor ring to be damaged. replaced left front hub bearing.

i hope this helps.
