I have an intermittent "Service Tire Monitor" warning come up on my 05 Tahoe. When this message comes up, the pressure for the left rear tire indicates --. I have rotated the tires, reprogrammed the TPMS sensors and even replaced a sensor. This is getting pretty annoying. Outside of taking my Tahoe to the dealer, anybody have any suggestions???

My local incompetent or untrained Firestone technician promptly broke off one of my TPMS modules when installing 2 new tires.

They went to the local Chevy dealer and got a service replacement and replaced it. This rubber one is totally different from the OEM one. It worked for a couple of months and now it gives a "--" reading and re-learning doesn't help.

The other 3 still work fine. Any advice from knowledgeable people would be appreciated.

I recommend finding a reputable and "Experienced" dealer to replace the sensor with an OEM replacement while making sure that they explain to you the reprogramming they are doing. By having them explain it to you, that will give you an idea of whether they truly know what they are doing or not.

If it was an aftermarket sensor it might not be the right frequency for the module to pick up. I'd recomend to get a sensor from the GM dealer.
