Just wondering if anyone out there has swaped out a tpms sensor yet on a 2007 or new tahoe. I am about to put 22'' on and i plan on using my sensors from the stock 20'' wheels. Is there a way to get the rubber valve stem out with damaging it so i can reuse it or will a regular valve stem work on the sensor?

Short answer is that it depends on the sensor. Early 2007s had sensors with metal valve stems. Later 2007s to present have rubber valve stems. You can't change the stems that come with the sensors as they are integral.

You should be able to use your old sensors on your new wheels. I did.

Actually I got my wheels installed today and i was able to uy a replacement rubber valve stem for 2.99 each. The sensor screws into the bottom of the valve stem.

there is but it all depends on who makes it. i got mine from american tire dist. i think it is made by dill. they make majority of rubber valve stems. if you need them i can get you as many as you need. it was a life saver for me. I am actually in the tire business so just let me know.

Also the new valve stem comes with the hex screw to screw the sensor to the bottom of the valve stem. you will rip the bottom out of the valve stem if you try to remove it. I sold my original 20" and just unscrewed the sensors and left the rubber stem in the wheels. it was very easy

Let me get this straight. I have the metel tpms in stock wheels. I can't buy the newer style rubber stem tpms and put those in my 24's? Will my hoe not recognize them?

Yeah thats right. It will not communicate with the body control computer. You have to stay with the metal ones. They make a bracket that you can mount inside the wheel to hold the metal sensors so you can run rubber valve stems. Lexani makes them. Its like a 90 degree elbo that mounts in the valve stem hole.
