I have a 04 GMC Denali, 6.0 AWD. I bought used about 10 days ago. I was checking the tire pressure and it was between 30-32 lbs ( I prefer 35 lbs.). The tire(s) it self states 80 lbs (cold).
Here is the info I took off the tire.
Michelin LTX A/S
LT 265/70 R17 LTX A/S
Max load single 3195 lbs @ 80 psi (cold)
Load range E

I think these are "Light truck tires" and require more pressure. Do I need to go ahead and push them up to 80 lbs. I don;t think it would be good from them to run the under inflated.

Would or could the the higher TP cause and issue with the tire monitor?

Thoughts????

Thanks

Use the recommended tire pressure that printed on the driver's door jamb sticker as your starting point. I think it would be fine to adjust it to a slightly higher psi depending on handling characteristics and contact patch.

But whatever you do, don't just max it out to whatever is printed on the tire. That's just a generic number that does not apply to any specific vehicle, but refers more to the upper limit of safety for that tire.
