I just put aftermarket wheels on my '07 Z71. I'd like to know if the sensors
on the factory wheels can be removed and installed on my new wheels. The
shop swapping my wheels says I need new sensors. Can it be done?

Yes . You can use the factory tire sensors on your new wheels. I switched to 24" wheels and tires on my 2007 Yukon and had the sensors swapped to the new wheels. Not a problem.

You should be able to. There are some wheels that will not take the OEM sensors, usually the wheel description will say whether they will or not.

But...they can be broken when being removed. Make sure the shop your using is careful when they remove the stock ones. If they break them they'll be able to make a sale of new ones.

Bought some Budniks and could not use the OEM sensors because of the thickness of the rim.

If you're NOT going to run your wheels all year round, purchase a second set for your after-market rims. This will prevent you having to knock down your tires each and every winter/summer.

The sensors are reusable, but rmember to put new seals in them when doing so.
Some sensors are screwed into the back of the special black rubber valve stems. These stems are one time use only, and would have to be purchased new for new wheels.
Also in the case of some wheels where there is not a conventional way of installing the sensors, (just for example, Budniks), Lexani wheels make a sensor adapter to use the OE sensors. Any good wheels shop should be able to obtain them.

Here are some pics from the net.
