96 vortec 2 door. Bought w/ 196k on it. Replaced the engine, tranny, fuel pump & sending unit. Rebuild fuel and break lines, master cylinder. Flushed 4wd system. Changed plugs and wires. All done at dealership. Prob I'm having (since before all work done) is what feels like a timing mis. It's usually when in over drive or lower rpm's. Don't notice when it's under load. Feels like cross bw a timing issue or a transmission bump. Could it be my distributor? *im no mechanic.

So you had a dealer replace an engine, a transmission, etc replaced for the miss? How about the PCM?

No no, engine was first due to lifters, once got in it had 2 bent rods. I decided new instead if rebuild. The trans was jumping around and fluid had a burnt smell. Had a few guys look at it, general consensus was replace. Haven't had anything done to the PCM. Could I assume it would have registered a code when the engine or trans were replaced?

Some luck you have had.... I would check into the PCM as it is one of the last few things left....Might get a data log of it "missing".....

Yea, bought it as a "work truck" and it's been good to me. When the probs started coming, bout 6 months into ownin it, I coulda put some band aids on it but I've got a 14 yr old nephew who will get the truck in a few years. So going ahead and spending the money now. Thanks for the advice, so... Get a data log of driving it? And maybe it'll show up....

still going

took the tahoe to a local 4x4 shop and they found multiple issues the dealership ignored, apparently bc they had no clue about the issue. Its been throwing an EGR run lean code. The local shop changed the distributor and cap, when i picked it up it was bucking like a mule. They discovered the dealership installed the timing chain out of time and had to adjust the distributor and cap to accomodate for the chain. Repaired an exhaust leak. Still throwing the code and they believe its the intake manifold gasket and recommend changing the spider wires while in there. Ive read some threads about a similar code/problem that was never resolved. Does this still sound like a pcm problem? When replacing the distributor, all the plugs except one had soot on them, i dont know for a fact if the dealership replaced the plugs when they replaced the engine. I would think so but i've lost faith in those guys bc of the other things they neglected to repair. Theres no back fire, just an occasional rough ride and a mis while coming out of acceleration.
