I have finally finished replacing the air suspension compressor in my '04 tahoe [see recent post on that].
Now everything is fixed, but:
1. the nearly worthless 1yr warrenty on the compressor is voided if you don't also replace the shocks (if they are leaking your compressor will burn out).
2. My shocks are not leaking currently (or any any noticeable rate), but the car IS 9yrs old now and those things are made of rubber. They look OK, but you can see some age related dry rot/cracking.
So I'm thinking I should probably just go ahead and replace those (nearly $400 for the pair) but if I don't the $200 compressor I just put in will probably break in a couple years when the shocks really start to break down.
I originally thought this would be a task for a professional, but the 1AAuto video make it look like a piece of cake. Seriously it's 2 freaking bolts? I think I should be able to handle that!
They even said it was not necessary to lift you car up.
So my real question is, how hard is it to replace shocks on this car? What would you recommend? I'd probably put these it:

will it still be necessary to jack the car a little? Thanks
and looking back on it, I probably should have just ditched the whole air ride BS and put in normal shocks...but oh well.
