these brake lights are going to be the death of me

Once again these damn brake lights are draining my wallet. After a brake switch and multi function switch In the column. the mechanic calls me to tell me the hazards work now but the brake lights still aren't functioning. At least it is his headache now. I just needed to vent. Haha

Is there any cobbled up trailer plug in wiring back there? No year supplied or model. Care to supply? Secret? LOL!

There is a mess of wires under the rear bumper I was told was for a tow package. But they were cut by previous owner. I was told there is no power to them

Common knowledge only if I had read the other posts but you started a new thread. Bet you there is a problem back there with the wiring. Any qualified tech will verify that the multi function switch and the stop light switch are working and sending correct power signals out. Trace the power feed to the rear and verify ground and make sure correct bulbs are in there and problem solved.

Yea he said the multi function swith was a mess. He was suprised my turn signals worked. But before he changed it I had no hazards or cruise control. he just called to give me an update. but thanks bud. I have just been frustrated With it on a positive note. The 4x4 system now works. Apparently the actuator on the front wasn't holding vaccuum. one problem down. One headache to go.

Front actuator should be electronic on 99 IIRC.....

Have you checked the bulb holder backplane, they can melt/ burn/ pit contacts, test for power on harness @ this backplane...
