Has anyone just taken off the rear portion of the exhaust? I am not talking about replacing it with aftermarket, I just don't want it to show anymore. I don't know if this is something that can be done without causing it to be excessively loud. I want to take it off and put a nice black tip on. I really hate how GM puts there mufflers on these trucks and the trailblazers. Who wants to see the muffler sticking out anyway?

I hate seeing the resonator sticking out like a sore thumb

I'm pretty sure he means the resonator located after the muffler and right before exhaust tip.

I am aware of at least one who remove it and was pleased with the sound.

One of the first things I did was to paint it flat black to help hide it.

Same thing here.. i took it off and replace it with a nice tip no sound or performance or any issues... i then later replace the oem muffler with a magnaflow one.. it sounds much much better with out been load.. and yes.. when you go from v4 - v8 you do notice a sound.. but only within the change it self... nothing bad just a minimal sound that i dont know how to discribe..

Like others pointed out, it is most likely that you are referring to the resonator, not the muffler. Shouldn't be a problem.

I was talking about the resonator, I just didn't know what to call it. Laredo, it looks good, I want the same thing but with a black tip and painted black pipe. It's always good to here someones tried something before you get a guy hacking at your new vehicle and find out that it sounds like crap afterwards.
