Yesterday I came upon an accident at an intersection close to my home. The Honda Accord (Possibly 2000-2002) had severe front damage and no doubt is totaled. The other vehicle involved in the accident was a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. I could not get a close look but it looked like the only outward damage was to the front bumper. There was about a 6 inch gap between the bottom of the grill and the top of the bumber on the passenger side. No serious injuries but one driver had to get a ride home and the other probably continued on to the mall. I had no doubts about the safety of my Tahoe and that it is a solidly built vehicle but I'd imagine the driver of the Honda might be lookin at Chevy Tahoes when they get their insurance money.

Yep. It's almost always better to be the one in the heavier, more solid vehicle. I couldn't imagine getting into an accident in a small vehicle w/o a full length frame platform like a truck has. My wife was involved in an accident a little over a year ago. She was stopped in traffic on !35 and a kid in a Dodge truck rearended her, sending the front of her car underneath the back of a SUV that was stopped in front of her. Thankfully she and our 4 mo old daughter at the time was ok. But the Chrysler Sebring she was in was totaled.
So, Tahoe,Full-size truck,etc:thumbsup:
Accord or other small unibody car:nono:

A business partner got sandwiched in his Escalade. Nothing happened to him. Really a safe vehicle at least due to its size.

Have read that the Smart uses the bumper zones of the other vehicle. Just imagine two of them crash into each other. Very unsafe in my mind.
