I had a 97 custom 1/2 ton truck that had 3.08s with a manual tranny and all the bolt on mods I could afford.
On the freeway, with me driving pretty aggressively, she normally got 23-25 mpg.
I'm considering a similar set up for my 02 2wd LS 4.8L Tahoe. We drive almost all highway miles.
I found this Ring and pinion set on 4WheelParts.
Genuine Gear Ring and Pinion Set
Can anyone confirm if these can be installed in my Tahoe? And, will my Tahoe with the automatic be able to turn them without feeling like it's glued to the pavement and costing me more in gas?
Eventually I'd like to run 20's or so but for now with gas prices where they are. I'm probably gonna stay with the stock wheels, at least until I can get the MPG up.
Also, I figured while I was in there I'd consider a posi differential?? or should I stick with the limited slip???
Comments greatly appreciated.
