Hey all,
(EDIT) Yes, I have done the search for supercharger info. I guess this question is for more info regarding towing and what a supercharger will get me. Any suggestions on brand, type, etc.. and well received. (EDIT)

We are now using our '02 Tahoe to tow a medium sized travel trailer almost full time. The truck has no problem getting up to speed, but maintaining speed is a problem. It appears that around 65-70 the truck will downshift and at this RPM it just can't maintain the speed. I have a feeling that the issue has nothing to do with weight, but more of an issue with the aerodynamics of the trailer.

So, I am considering buying a supercharger kit to get a few more horses and hopefully this will cure our ails. Any thoughts on this? Would a reprogrammed computer get us what we need as well? I have been looking at the Vortec package and it looks to be a fairly complete kit. Just pricey. Any good kits that are a bit cheaper out there? What can we expect this to do to our mileage?

Thanks for any info you guys and provide. Its much appreciated.

Jason

Get a Black Bear tune first. Sorry Supercharging a truck is not my specialty. But IM quite happy with the Callaway Magna Charger kit on the corvette:D

A mild cam and boltons would really wake the truck up, as would the aforementioned tune. You'll need a transmission soon after adding the blower, shouldn't do much for mileage depending on how you drive. Honestly a cam/converter/exhaust/tune should make plenty of power and be just as reliable as stock. I'd even start with a tune and work your way up from there, justin at blackbear really woke my truck up with my 93 octane tune. I swear it was a different vehicle, stock tunes really suck on these trucks.

Justin towed his Trans Am cross country with his truck bed loaded down as well. Magnacharger held up like a champ, but this was on a Silverado SS (bigger engine and better tranny). That being said, with a safe tune and a couple more upgrades, you should be good to go.

I also went with a Magnacharger to put on my Tahoe, cant wait!
