I have a 2001 4.8L V8 with 192,000 miles. It still runs great. I decided to fully refurbish it myself as a hobby vehicle. Upon removing the spark plugs I found number three had been force in at a small angle downward and to the front. I am not able to put a socket on it (5/8). The last change out was at the dealer at about 95,000 miles. My question is if I should remove number 3 spark plug would I be then looking to replace the cylinder head? I don't want to do that.
Is there a less intensive fix that a shop can perform? I am now very reluctant to take it to the dealer.

Thanks

well there are a few things but enless you own an engine shop you cant preform them. All the dealer is going to do is tell you that you need a new head and charge you like crazy to do it. or you could take it to a engine shop and get them rethread the plug hole for you at the correct angle.
