I typically don't keep my 3rd row seats in my SUV because I pretty much never need to transport more than 4 people at a time. So, my 3rd row seats spend the majority of time on my garage floor.

My seats are sitting side-by-side, so I no longer have enough space in the garage to park 2 cars.

If any of you have been in a similar situation, how do you store your 3rd row seats so that they don't take up too much space?

Thanks in advance.

i usually keep mine in, but when i take them out im usually hauling crap from a house remodel to the land fill. so they stay out for a couple weeks at a time, i stow mine in the attic. got nothing there and completly protected from the elements.

My attic currently has plenty of space, too. but these seats are quite heavy. I can't imagine I'd be able to carry them up a ladder. How do you get yours up into the attic?

I put mine in some trash bags and store them in my basement.

The salesman really downplayed the weight of these things. I never tried to lift them until i was ready to take them out of the truck. I was a bit surprised to say the least.

I have been thinking of putting one of those hoist things in the garage, to store some other garage items, but the seats are pretty heavy...

maybe you can hang them on the wall? Get some heavy duty anchors (like a bike hook or something) and maybe put them in a bag with straps? (just thinking out loud)

I normally leave them in, but when I take them out, I store them in the garage. I take the first one, and set it on the floor, and then I flip the other one over and put it on top of the first. 50% reduction in space needed.

Since they're not out of the 'Hoe for long, I don't cover them with anything.

There is no real good way to store them. Like somebody else said, just stick them in a heavy duty trash bag and stick them in a corner somewhere.

i hung them on the garage wall.... i put a large eye-bolt with a hook for each seat into a stud in the back wall of my garage, then slid a large heavy garbage bag over each.... my tahoe is 6 months old and the seats have never been used....

I built a couple of shelves out of 2x4's and some shelf stock from Menards. See pic.

This is why I don't plan on getting 3rd row seating. If I have to take more than 4 other people they can take another vehicle.

These seats have quickly become a big pain in the ass. I need 3 rows and I need the space, so I put in and remove the seats often. The weight of these things is nuts. GM really needs to learn how to make the third row fold away. There are several other SUVS the size of the Tahoe that dont have this problem. Why cant GM do it right?

Either make them fold away or......something. Hell make them lighter somehow. And honestly, if I need to haul 9 people, and they are athletically able, just stick em in the cargo area with a pillow :p.

I thought about getting a Suburban but I do SO much city driving and meandering around fairly tight parking garages, I just didnt fell like having that extra length on the back. My Grand Marquis was as long as my Suburban was, and that thing could be a ROYAL pain at times. I think these folks want something the size of the tahoe with the folding seats. I.E. every other SUV on the planet except Land Cruiser. Which has it's own retarded seat stowage method.
