just got home from chicago today (left sunday stopped in west VA) finished the trip today. anyway the ENTIRE TRIP THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS!!!!, the engine droned and it gave me a head ache Sounded like an aftermarket one, only this one is stock. Im gunna be traveling alot in the near future and this will get annoying, is there anything i can to to quit this beast abit?? or should i buy some ear plugs, My 06 i just heard the engine, never an exhause drone.

But i got 15.2 MPG the entire trip, not the greatest, but was much more comfortable than all the little priuses and compact cars i went by today. So even though this entire trip cost me more than flying and a rentel car in gas, it was still worth it to have my own truck, and to avoid flying as im deathly afraid of it. :smilielol: I know MR wimpy. Hights bug me, and even the bridges in the mountains buged me today, being up high just freaks me out.

Filled up before i left last week for 68 dollars, filled twice on the trip at 94 dollers a piece ( i would stop for gas when the light turned on) filled twice while in chicago for 100 dollars apice (did a ton of driving, and mostly stop and go city) But had a ton of fun with some old friends and even had lunch with an old highschool flame while i was there, just dont let my current GF know

but then filled twice on the way back for 80 then 60, dollers a piece and then add 30 bucks to get it washed and polished after the trip. LOL

GLAD TO BE IN MY OWN HOME OFFICE CHATTING AWAY ON THE INTERNET.

But that drone has to stop!!!

Which engine do you have? It sounds like you have the 6.2L.

I have the 5.3L and I did not notice any drone when I was stock. Since then, I have a Magnaflow on which is only really noticable (inside) when you get on it, or crusing at highway speeds in V4 mode.

Never looked into reducing exhaust noise, but I would think you can purchase an aftermarket muffler (or additional resonator?) to make it quieter. In your sig, it indicates a future Flowmaster... Not sure if they make a quiet version.

I actully have the 5.3, and the flows were before i knew i would be driving across country and to new york, and SC and NC almost 4 times monthly. work crud, but anyway, I guess i will look in to those, i kinda like the exhaust tone when city driving, but long highway trips can get annoying, maybe just leave as is for now. Going to NC this week, to help some friends move. BIG TRUCK TO THE RESCUE LOL, rented a giant enclosed trailer, and will take the seats out, and be good to go. :cool2:
