I have a 00 yukon xl and in Dec of 2004 I had the shocks replaced when they replaced my engine a week before I got deployed to Iraq, long story as to how I got to that point. Well I did not see the truck after it was done until a year later. I can see that there are new shocks installed but the ride is still uncomfortable, at least to me. I know I requested HD due to a lot of towing I used to do, but now I feel every bump in the road ect.

I do have 180K on it, so I dont know if it is the shock, the springs or some other suspension component. I did upgrade to 20" rims with 305's, but kept same diameter. But I was have the issue prior to that.

Any suggestions, install new shocks? If so what would be the most comfortable since I no longer tow, or is it time to replace the springs etc. My goal is to get a real comfortable "like new" ride again.

Thank you

Low profile tires and HD shock will transfer more bumps and stuff to your spine.

HD shocks help keep your car planted to the road by quick abosorbing bumps so in some sitiuations they may transfer bumps but should overall provide a comfortable ride. HD springs/coils is what will make your ride harsh because they make the ride bouncy!

I replaced the original shocks for Rancho RSX and the ride became a little bit harsher, but the steering response and handling improved.
