Shaking problem

I bought a 1997 Tahoe about 2 months ago. It has a new crate motor in it with only 4000 miles on it. The rest of the truck has 139,000 miles on it. It runs really good.

The problem is.....
While driving there is a slight shake. It shakes a lot worse when accelerating. It is most noticeable at 25-35 mph. You can feel the shake in the steering wheel as well.

Any thoughts?

First, did you have the engine installed? What all do you know about the install? It COULD be loose motor mounts, loose transmission adapter, loose transmission mounts, etc.

That being said, if you are feeling it in the steering wheel, you may want to also check the ball joints, control arm bushings, etc to rule them out as well.

One other area that I would inspect would be the front brake system, Rotors and Pads specifically. A warped rotor or screwed up Pads could give you that front end shake. I experienced the same sort of shake you are talking about on my 98 Tahoe. I had the front end checked out, Pitman arm installed and front tires balanced. It steered better, but still had the shake. Once I replaced the rotors and pads all was well in my world. So I gues the bottom line is, you need to check the suspension components, steering components and your brakes and rotors. Hope this helps
