First off, yesterday my front drivers wheel hub went out. Other than the loud grinding noise of a bearing going out, the ABS light came on, then the traction control was turned off, then the cruise stopped working. No biggie, I figured it was all related and the replacement of the hub would fix the problem.
Today I got a 4x4 hub from the junk yard for 65 bucks, and these work ono the 2x4 Tahoes, and in my opinion they are better hubs as the bearings are sealed, isntead of the junk dust cap style 2x4 hubs. Anyway I replaced the hub, plugged the ABS sensor wire back in, turned on the truck and the traction assist light turned off. Ok cool. Abs light was still on. As i drove the truck about 2 blocks, the abs light turned off as well. Sweet everything is working.
I go to test out the cruise and it still doenst work. I noticed upon startup that there is some clicking inside the steering console, andi could feel the clicking as i had my hand on the gear shifter. Anyway I checked the fuses under the hood and nothing is blown. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this?
The only other issue is my tahoe dies at slow speeds sometimes. Such as if I start it, and back up. while backing up slowly sometimes it dies. No sputtering, no thing, it is as if you simply turned the key off. It does it every couple days, sometimes 2-3x a day, but note that I drive my truck a LOT. 65k+ miles a year (work vehicle).
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix both of these problems? I never take my cars to a mechanic unless i break down on the road and I have no other choice. Any tips are appreciated.
