Hey all, first post here.

I have a 1996, 4x4, 4 door tahoe with BFG radial long trail t/a's on it. I'm going to be replacing them soon with something that is a bit more off-road worthy (nothing insane).

90% of the miles I drive are highway and I'd like new tires that perform the same (or better) on highway and better off-road than my current tires.

I was looking at BFG rugged terrains (the BFG all terrains are a bit impractical for me) but I'm new to selecting tires. Can any of you help me by suggesting a great tire?

Thanks!

Two sets now of BFG ATR's...best tire for me and I too am about 90% highway. But, when I do go off road, I'm more than happy with them. They lasted 60k miles on the first set.

Thanks for the reply, I here the ATR's are good but how much fuel efficiency did you lose over a typical highway tire? Is it a big difference?

I recently bought the same truck. I just put on four new P255/70R-16 BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A. I got them from tirerack.com at a great deal.

They're similar to the Long Trail but a bit more rugged. They drive very nice. I can't tell the difference between these and the long trails that were on it before. Of course these arent't "off road" tires, but they suit me just perfect driving 90% on the highway and 10% of the time off road.
