Getting a 4WD noise that I haven't noticed before.

A whine that exists in either AWD or 4H modes. Intermittent and varies with load (goes away when coasting)

Thoughts?

Well. I would NEVER USE 4 HI on DRY ROADS!!!!!! The auto 4x4 engauges the front end, It just does not send power to there. So the whine is normal. But dont drive in 4x4 hi unless your in ice, snow, or offroad.

Your Gear case may need some lubeing. But since it goes away when just cruzing along. Then Im not really sure. It sounds normal. My silverado makes a noise kinda like that. Whether Im using the auto 4x4 or 4 hi. But its also older and I expect noises like that. Does it seem to affect the truck any other way???
