I bought a 2007 LTZ Tahoe with the Retractable running boards. I love them, only one problem. No mud flaps the rocks stuck in the tire treads are chewing up the paint. I went to the dealer and they didn't have any solutions. Is there some where that anybody knows of that would make custom ones or something? Spring is going to arrive soon and by June I would have sandblasted the bottom part of my doors. I didn't pay $1000 for the bars, to get them removed to save the paint. It is really a poorly thought idea, at the very least the tires should have had wider tread so that rocks wouldn't get stuck in them. He are pictures of the same step bars on a suburban
HELP please

I feel for you. My Tahoe has what I guess is the standard running boards attached and I am looking at getting the mud flaps that were designed to fit. Have you thought about having what is called "clear bra" type of clear film applied to those areas to help protect the painted surfaces??

I agree that this is a poor design. The problem is the pwr boards extend into the front wheel well about an inch. To date, chevy does not have a solution for this. To make matters worse, if you had them installed by your GM accessory dealer (GM parts) you could also install the mud guards because the "aftermarket boards" are shorter in length, and don't run into the wheel well. Sorry to make the bad news worse.

What "aftermarket boards" are you referring to? I looked at the GM Accessories site and didn't see any for the Tahoe or Suburban. Can you help direct me to them? I'm very interested in this.

Thanks.

You can go to our website sutliffchevrolet.com home page. scroll to the bottom to gm accessories...click. accessory home page scroll to the bottom and they are listed on the left side...click. Prices are $1299, plus 100 labor to install, plus tax. They are available...I just called to check. I should also say that these boards are not a gm accessory, but sold through our gm accessories dealer. You can read the note at the bottom of the information display when you get there. hope this helps some.

Ned-
Thanks for the link. I there a chance you can give us the part numbers and costs for the system pieces. I have the boards from an Esky coming, but am looking for the "harness" or "electronic signal" device to operate the boards. TIA
