Okay I have a 2002 Tahoe z71 that I believe the rear main seal is leaking on it. So my questions are 1. How much would you guess the cost for a shop to fix this is and 2. Is it something that someone whos never done anything like this before do on their own, Im not a dumbass just never pulled a transmission or anything like that before

Lots have done it themselves but for your first time it would be good to bribe a friend with beer and food to help you that has a good mechanical background. May even have to pay him/her a bit of money. It is a lot of grunt work and is not easy but is doable. You will need a good assortment of tools or at least your helper will. If you have it done it will be costly and you don't learn anything except how fast the pocketbook empties. Get a good new rear seal kit, AC Delco, from Rock Auto and follow all instructions. Go to you tube and watch it done.
