Rear DVD Monitor

We seem to have a weird problem in our 2007, or is this the way it is supposed to work? Rear monitor down, movie playing fine. Turn off Tahoe, leave vehicle, come back. DVD in front starts playing fine at point we left. Back monitor will not show video signal until we pop out the dvd and reinsert, and then we have to go through the menus and scene selection to get to where we were.

Am I missing an available switch somewhere?

I think I read on another forum that you have to hit the power button on the GM wireless remote to get the screen to come back on in this situation.
