I'm thinking of swapping the rear axle from a 4WD Yukon into my 2WD Yukon. Reason: 2WD needs an expensive differential rebuild, but the 4WD is in good shape.

Do you know if these two axles are swappable? They're both the 3.73 ratio limited-slip model.

Old post...but I'll reply any ways lol..
If the rear end from the 4x4 donor is from the same years. As yours then i see no reason why you couldn't swap.

As far as the full size chevy trucks go.. 88-98 are different then the 99(NBS)- i believe 04. The spring purch is out towards the wheels more on the NBS.

I know what you mean about costly rebuild. . I had to have one built in the 99 silverado i had.. i searched and found a good price's on a new Auburn posi carrier.. a good set of used OEM gears and all new bearings ..only use top brands!... found a shop that would do the set up.. $150 for his labor...and i took the rear end out and brought it to him.. save a lot of money this way!!..
Never had any issues. .even hauled my camaro on a 4 hour road trip..
