There is a site www.gasaroo.com that allows people to post their real world gas mileage. Problem is there are no 2007 Tahoes or Yukons in there so it is useless to me for research purposes. So if any of you have the time please post there.

Also post here what your getting and about how much highway/city driving you are doing. If I plan on driving about 80% of the time on the freeway at 65-75mph would I ever see 20MPG with a standard length, 2wd, Yukon/Tahoe with the 5.3?

I'm getting 19 mpg on my daily 80 mile round trip commute which is about 95% interstate driving.

I have been tracking my mileage, gas prices, etc. since I bought new in February of 2007. Added my info to that site - pretty interesting. Unfortunately, the majority of my miles, 80%, are city driving.

Your mileage appears to be going up, I assume that is from breaking the engine in? Nice to see a lot of data points!

I certainly hope so! When I bought it, gas was only $2.28/gal (just outside of Chicago) back in early Feb '07 and it's now $3.15/gal. I know it's higher in other parts of the country but DAMN!!!:mad2:

I have had my Yukon XL since Feb 21. 1667 miles (mostly in town driving) and average 13.3 mpg. I will be making my first long trip in it next week and really hope to see numbers closer to what GM states. Right now pretty disappointed. Don't get me wrong though. I love my Yukon

Also curious to see if the theory that 4.10 axle gives better mileage than the 3.73 is true.

Have about 5,600 mi on mine with 3.73 gears and got about 17.5 mpg at 70 mph on cruise (amb temp ~ 85F) on a 200 mi trip last weekend. Never saw V4 mode over 55 on the level road though. People with 4.10 gears seem to get V4 mode at higher speeds.

I do have the 3.73 gears and do get the 4 cyl at slower speeds. Your window sticker should tell you which gears you have - GT4 - Rear Axle, 3.73 Ratio.

Gas Milage

Do the math yourself, don't rely on the computer to give you a exact milage. There is a bullintin out for this I had them check mine last week. I'm getting 19 in my LTZ 4x4 in 2 wheel drive mode.

I'm confused - I am keeping track of the information myself - miles between tanks, number of gallons on fill-up - it's been matching what DIC has been telling me, regarding my miles per gallon.

What is the bulletin and what does it refer to? It is something that the dealer has to fix under warranty?

Gas Milage

I have had mine now for a year this month. If you bought yours in the past six months it was already done I guess. Mine was giving me low MPG before. I could figure it at say 18 and the computer would say 16 or even lower. Anything on a 07 Tahoe is covered by warrinty for the first 100,000 miles or 5 years no matter what it is. They replaced the back window trim on mine today and the arm rest nut cover that feel off.

Mileage so far

I have a new/used 07 that I picked up on Saturday. I have the 5.3 with the 3.42 axle. After 400 miles my avg mileage so far has been 20.5mpg. 150 in rural highway and 250 on interstate. I really believe that cruise will eat up the gas. Manual accelerator is not to taxing on the foot and it allows the V4 to stay in service alot longer. Hopefully we can keep the mileage at around 20mpg for a long time.

Glad to find the forum,
David
