Hello everybody. Got a question that may lead to more questions, sound cool? :)

ok, i got these really neat hella duel beam lights, that let you switch between driving and fog lights, but i want them both on at the same time. But this is a question for later if my next question is wrong.

ok insted of messing with all this aftermarket crap wires, why cant i just un hook the stock fogs and splice the wires there??? white to white, ground to ground, and red to red. Use the stock relays which are bigger than what came with the kit. Will that hurt anything???

also im expecting that with all the wires hot then both bulbs will go on in each light when i push the button in the truck, RIGHT??? If this is a bad way to wire for any reason please tell me and i will take the truck to a aftermarket place that can wire them right, and if i need to wire it the way they tell me then is it possable to make both lights go on at the same time, or should i just play it safe and use them the way Hella says i should??

Well my main question is can i use the stock wireing, or do i need to use theirs. As their instructions are crap, and im not good at running wires through a fire wall.

My only thought is that the lens may not be able to handle the heat produced when both lights are on at the same time.

i wont use them all the time. so im not worried about heat. what i am worried is about wireing them directly to the truck. Will that hut them at all???

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but I'll shoot.

I installed an aftermarket brush guard as a DIY and added some extra driving lights onto the guard in the pre-drilled mounting holes (keeping the stock fogs as well).

I basically ran a power wire from under the fog light fuse in the fuse box and ran it forward through the honeycomb grill to each light (using some black PVC wire covers). So basically, when I hit the fog light switch, the fogs come on as well as my extra driving lights. I did upgrade the fog light fuse from 15a to 30a I believe.

RT, its a simple install. I take it you have factory fog lihts that you want to tap into. Get a simple 12volt/30a relay. Tap whatever circuit (im assuming the fog lamps) you want to turn your aftermarket lights on and run it to the relay Terminal 85. The ground terminal 86. From the battery/fuse box run a fused wire to terminal 30 of the relay. The output will be 87, which you will run to your fog lights hot side. Hope this helps,

Maybe and maybe not, Its a 15amp circuit, if the lights dont exceed the factory wirings capabilities (15A) then sure you can wire them right in. I Installed LED foglights so they only draw 1.1 amps for both, a relay was not needed.

I suspect that the supplied harness is to handle the higher current draw that the factory wiring won't handle. 30A requires 10 ga wire, 20A = 12 ga, & 15A = 14 ga.

The stock wires were just included in case you dont have anything to tap into. Personally I would use the relay if your gonna run all 4 bulbs. If there standard 55 watt bulbs...... 55watts/13.0volts= 4.2 amps per bulb. 4.2x4=16.8amps for the circuit

I would use the wire feeding the stock fog lights, to turn on the relay that would switch a new circuit that you could setup under the hood, without going through the firewall.

I would go into the relay center and pick off the +12 and put an inline fuse to whatever size you need. Sounds like you need 20 amps.

That way, your stock fog light switch handles the new lamps without worrying about overloading that circuit. :cool2:

Nice work guys, sounds totally correct. So like they're saying RT you're using the factory switch wires but with relay and a new power circuit because the new lights draw "hella" more current than the stock... right guys?

Yes, possibly double or a "hella" more current. :smilielol:

well took it by the dealer today (had to go back to conform new sunroof, yes whole new sunroof, glass, frame, and even the inside guts) anyway i asked them about installing the lights and they said if ANYTHING (they mean anything) goes wrong with the electrical system it will void, so even if a power seat stops working they will blame it on the lights, even dealer installed as its not gm approved, they reccommended some of theirs at 500 a pair. i said no thanks, as i will most likely get one of those HID kits from JAZEJEFF, bad week, some idiot in an f150 smashed his mirror in to mine, tried to track him down, but no luck) so i just said fudge it and they threw a new mirror on there for 700 dollars (mirror was clean broken off) anyway i decided to throw the aux lights on the mustang, they get installed monday, if yall want pics i will post them, and maybe when im in another spendy mood i will get those 500 dollar a pair HID aux lights. but until then the HIDS will do quite nicely. :D
