Hey everyone...

Thanks for the help on the Escort 8500 Hardwire Install. I just completed it (I was out of the country for about 7 months). I have pictures and will upload them soon.

Now that I am back, I bought some new Projector Headlights for the h0e! :cool2: It's pretty much plug and play, except for the Halos. I am not exactly sure what to wire them too. I am inserting some pictures of what the front and back look like. You can see (from the back picture) there are two sets of wires that break off. Those are apparently for the Halos.

Anyways, can anyone help me figure out how to do this install? Lucky for me, the headlights came with no installation information.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to do this install this weekend! :D

Connect them to your parking lights... you can plug them all to the possitive and negative on the oem wirring.

Post pics when done.. i have been told they are more look that actual functional.. many complain the lack of good visibility.

Good Luck.

Hey Laredo,

I didn't have my camera when I put them in. I hadn't read your posting til this morning, so I haven't technically installed the Halo part yet. But I just popped in the headlights and plugged'em in. I drove around all weekend with them, and have no complaints. The visibility for distance is MUCH better. The immediate area in front of the h0e isn't as bright (but by no means dark).

So, there's a trade-off, but you can definately see further in the distance! I will post pics later today.

I just installed the 02 version of those same lights. I am going to t-connect the halos into the respective light wiring and the side led's in with the turn signals unless it messes with the blink speed in which case I'll connect them to the low beams.

Question: The halos are the Red Wire and the LEDs are the Blue Wire (blacks I'm sure are just simple ground)?

Is that right?

thats how it is on mine, although I have sep wires for the two halos.

however you do it if you use spade lugs it wont matter, if you get it wrong just move it to the other source. then you can remove the lights later if needed and not have to cut the wires.

you don't recommend doing a proper wire tap? how does the spade lug attach? Do you just stuff it into the connectors?

a proper tap can mean many things. i am going to use the crimp on spade lugs for the male side and they make these female taps that tap into the existing wire. I've used them for years on many vehicles without a problem.

you'll need a cheap crimper for the lugs but if you do any audio/electrical work you'll use them plenty often. they crimp many sizes and styles such as butt connectors, male and female spade/ring terminals etc...

they can be plugged in and unplugged when needed where as a soldered connection will need to be cut later.

Hey everyone...my bad about the lack of pictures. Something came up last night, and I wasn't even able to work on the lights.

Nevertheless, in an effort not to blow fuses or damage the lights, I need some more clarification to make sure I do the right thing. Forgive my naivety, but I am simply trying to do it right...

These are questions:

1) The Black Wires will be simply connected as grounds to a metal contact point?
2) The Red Wire (the Halos) need to be connected to a Constant - Day/Night Power; since the Halos are always on. What source could be used?
3) The Blue Wire can be tapped to the Light Red/Pink wire on the headlight connector cluster to be used as a signal light, right?

Again, forgive the questions if you think they're dumb...I'm just trying to do it right.

Thanks for all the help!!

true

2) The Red Wire (the Halos) need to be connected to a Constant - Day/Night Power; since the Halos are always on. What source could be used?

not a constant source unless you want to leave them on when the truck is off or install a switch. I am going to tap into either the low or high beam. this will fuse them as well as turn them on with the light. if you decide to switch them, make sure you use a fuse.

3) The Blue Wire can be tapped to the Light Red/Pink wire on the headlight connector cluster to be used as a signal light, right?

not sure of the color but yes. just tap into the signal light.

Again, forgive the questions if you think they're dumb...I'm just trying to do it right.

Thanks for all the help!!

no such thing as a dumb question.

Can the Halos be tapped to the "Day Running Lights" and to the "Low Beams"? Is that possible?

Essentially...just running a bridge wire to cross connect them?

not without a diode circuit to prevent both lights (low and DRL) from being on when either is on.

no worries, it means no you cant just run a wire to both.

if you did and turned either light (low or DRL) on, then the other light would come on as well.

You need a special circuit to isolate the other light in orderf to make it work the way you want.
