programing a new (stock) 6 disk head unit

My head unit went out and i am thinking about just picking up a new stock unit.. not sure yet... but here is the link to one on ebay.

I was not aware that these things have to be 'programed'

Why is that? Is there any way around it (although the ebay ad says there is not)?

Unfortunately, the ebay ad is correct. 03 and up need to be re-programmed if the radio was previously installed in another vehicle. The dealer or any shop with a Tech 2 programmer can do that for you.

you are probably looking at about 50 bucks at an actual dealer.
