I have a 2002 Tahoe 4WD with 68K miles. I've been experiencing side to side sway when driving at moderate speeds. The Tahoe seems also particularly sensitive to road depressions, getting even more sway. A few years ago I put on 20" chrome rims w/ Yokohama Geolander tires that seemed to improve the handling quite a bit over the stock tires. The tires now have about 38K miles and have maybe another 5K to go. I tow a 5K lb boat and have put on approx. 5k miles towing it. I'm still on the stock suspension and am thinking this might be the problem. Any advice?

Check your tierod ends, pitman, and idler arms. The bushings/linkage in these wear out and cause a loose feel in the steering. Take a look at the swaybar bushings as well. You can upgrade to polyurethane bushings for a more solid feel and they'll last longer.

If you have that side to side mushy feel in the rear of the truck, you will feel this more on a curve in the road as you hit a bump, its the lower trailing arms, they connect to the frame of the truck to the rear end,The factory has stamped out metal that is junk,I have the Hotchkis swaybars and lower trailing arms and my truck never sways, and you will never get that flex feel it gets solid as a rock,You might want to try just the lower trailing arms first, especially if you tow a boat,Its a very easy install I recommend them to everyone. I have them for 5 years now and couldnt be happier.Good Luck!http://www.hotchkis.net/c-599-2000-2006.aspx
