OK, while driving in a sweeping turn, at say 40mph, it feels as though the wheels start to drift, then the steering wheel jerks in that direction. Does fine while driving straight. It is not bad yet, but just feels funny. It is a 4WD.

Took it to our mechanic, great place. They think it is the steering gear box. They have already replaced the ball joints, idler, pitman, etc. The warranty company, Secured Capital Management (ripoff), will only pay for a remanufactured part.

So, a couple questions, does this sound like a gear box issue?

If so, how hard is the gear box to replace? Special tools required?

Is a remanufactured part ok?
