Okay...

I have a 95 Tahoe. Replaced the brake booster a few days ago. Got it all back together and no brake lights, plus shifter won't move from park on occasion (I know how to bypass that, though).

I replaced the brake light switch, but lost the retainer clip. I searched all over God's creation for this thing in the truck, and it's just gone.

Here's my question - which clip is the right one?

The one that I lost was basically a circle. Then my dad snagged one from a Suburban that looked like a square with long fangs - not even close.

I went to the junk yard today, and I looked at every Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado, Sierra, and Suburban they had (with the same body style - a little over a dozen of them). Everyone of them had the same retainer clip, but it wasn't the one I lost. I got one anyway, just in case I got lucky and it will work.

But this one is...hard to describe. If you look at it with the hole for the rod facing you, the back side is longer than the front, and it basically looks like an "o" sitting in front of a "U"...if that makes any sense at all.

Searched, but couldn't find a picture of this one anywhere, but I'll keep trying so you can see what I'm talking about.

Anyway, will this one work, or do I need to go to a dealer to get the circular one? And what is that one called? Is that a "c" clip?

My brake system is the JB5 if that helps at all.

Please help me. I'm fixing to tear my hair out!

This is the one that I lost.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I picked up today.

So...which is the right one? And how do I install it? Do you just have to press it on there or is there some way to twist it?

Thanks very much!

Pin goes in big hole, press clip onto shaft and slide towards small hole, should snap in place...... Just like some of the clips on the TBI..... I have a 95 with the JB5 also.....

Thanks very much, lester.

Okay, got it done this weekend. Chevy dealer just gave me the clip. Got it home, got it on, still no brake/hazard lights.

Ended up checking fuse panel (not sure why I didn't check before). The fuse was blown...not to mention it wasn't even the right size.

So basically...yeah...because somebody before me couldn't read a fuse panel sticker...I spent WAY more time dealing with this than I really had to.

Oh, well. At least it's fixed, and now I know. And knowing is half the battle.
