Plastic exterior door handles

I've a 2008 Tahoe LTZ and I have already broken 1 exterior door handle this year trying to open a frozen door. It seems like every time I try to pull the frozen door open I'm waiting for the handle to break. I have to deal with freezing rain in missouri and it seems like it will be an on going issue.

Are there any fixes I can do.

Dealing with the elements is awful, I have no clue except carry a bottle of warm water and pour across top of door. Good luck.

I've always heard that pouring coca cola on windshield will thaw ice.Maybe it will on a door handle too!

Pouring cola on any painted surface will ruin it!
