I tried a search for this but didn't find any information useful. Sorry if this has been beat to death already.

I am looking to buy a low option Yukon and was interested in knowing how the 4.8 L engine moves the truck? I plan on using it for people and stuff hauling and not for towing.

Are the 4.8 and 5.3 L engines basically the same but with a different displacement? Are there any troublesome problems with the 4.8?

Thanks,
Warren

From what I've heard on several forums is that the 4.8 is a dog and the 5.3 gets the best mpg with the 4.10 gears. I know that's counterintuitive but it's something about the "sweet spot"

Lemme try and make a comparison; right or not, it's something to think about. If you were to take out 2 of the 8 cylinders of the 4.8, it would be a 3.6, with less power:weight than most minivans for it's size. :eek2: I'd pass, and get the 5.3 with the 4.10 gears.
