I'd like to increase the HP and throttle response on my 2014 Tahoe. A shop recommended a K&N intake, Magnaflow exhaust, higher temp plugs, lower temp thermostat and a custom tune for the motor.

Sounds great, but wondering if anyone would recommend against this for any reason?

Thanks for your help!

no need for different spark plugs outside of OE plugs and lower temp thermostat does nothing significant for these newer gen vehicles. The best thing you can do is exhaust and Black Bear Tune and it'll wake up the beast

Yes if you'd like it to. They can program it to your liking. That 4-cyl mode is about the most worthless feature ever offered. Since tuning it out on mine I've never been happier.

Thank you so much for your reply - I've been anxious to know if I could tune that out!

My 2014 Tahoe just seems "sluggish" and a 5.3 should perform better than that! Im looking at going with a Magnaflow system, K&N Intake, and a custom tune done by a reputable local shop.

Do you think I'll notice a substantial difference?

oh yes! My burb has the 5.3 as well and once I got it tuned by Black Bear it was like a whole new vehicle to be honest. It's no race but definitely a much more peppy and responsive land yacht LOL Much more pleasurable to drive.

I look forward to waking her up!

I assume doing a tune doesnt cause your check engine light to be on all the time or any other quirks?

Nope. No check engine lights or anything. As long as it's done right and you should have no problems.
