Hello all. Long time reader, first time poster. I bought my 2000 Tahoe LS back in December of 2008. It has the 5.3L and around 176,000 KM's on it. After owning it for a couple of weeks, the Low Coolant light came on. I checked the resivour, filled it up (it was about half full), and was on my way. A week or so ago, the light came on again, and this time the tank was empty. I filled it up again, and took a quick look for any leaks, but didn't see any. I also checked the oil, and it seems to be alright too. Anyhow, today the service engine soon light came on. I used my scan tool, and it came up with the P0300 "Random Misfire Detected" code. The truck runs like a million bucks. Never stutters, hesitates, or anything like that, so I reset the code to see if it comes back.

Any hints on what to try? I know I have to get the coolant leak looked at, but is there any waq the coolant leak and the missfire code could be related?

I'm used to my 1997 Bonneville, and this is the first V8 truck I have owned, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon:)

Yea, coolant can be getting into the combustion chamber and causing a misfire.

Your best bet is to do what i tell anyone to do with a coolant leak. Have a pressure test done when the engine is cold and again at operating temperture. That will most certainly find your leak.
