I have a 2000 tahoe with the 5.3, 57000 miles. It started getting hot a few days back. Ive changed the thermostat housing, water pump, and fan clutch so far. It does ok driving but sitting more than 10 minutes the gauge goes one click over 210 degrees. At the same time it reads just above 210 my superchip reads 223 degrees. Doesn't appear to have any air trapped anywhere and the heater is nice and toasty. Also the radiator doesn't seem to be clogged. The oil looks good. It doesn't lose any coolant unless it boils over a bit. Any help is much appreciated.

Did you check to see if theres anything blocking the radiator if not check and see if the fan was put on the right way after replacing the fan clutch make sure it pulling air into the engine not blowing it outward... if all that checks out ok you want to do a block test to see if there are hydrocarbons in the cooling system you can buy a block tester at napa ormost auto parts store that test will tell you if youhave a blown head gasket just because your oil looks fine doesn't mean you don't have blown gaskets

I may have it fixed. I jacked the front as high as possible and put maybe a half gallon of coolant in. I was able to work more air out. After that it ran to 213 on the superchip. It would have went higher but I turned the ac off. Once it was back around 202 I took it around town a bit. Never got hot driving and when I came home I could hear the fan running very loud. Now up until this time the old or new clutch never made this much noise. Anyway after I made it home it went from 204 down to 199 then eventually up they 202. Not sure if the new clutch needed the initial drive to work properly or what. It seems ok now but the test will be in the line picking up the kids at school where it needs to sit for 30 minutes or so in south florida heat.

So it seems its not fixed. Still getting hot. Right around 220 on my superchip with the ac on. It gets there fast too. I put the super duty clutch on the fan as well and it didn't help. It also has developed the stumble at cruising speeds. fine at idle and acceleration but cruising speed it jumps up and down about 250 rpms at a time. I cleaned the mass airflow sensor and throttle body but no help........Im lost at this point and very irritated

Did you ever figure this issue out? I know this is an old thread but I'm having the same issues.
