? on ON-STAR controls

In my 05 Tahoe Z-71 I would hit the button on the steering wheel to get "on star ready" If I hit the same button in my 08 Tahoe Z-71 it just mutes the radio and I do not get a "on star ready". I have to hit the button on the mirror.

anyone else having this issue, is it normal or a problem?

Hold your mute button in for about three seconds, and you will hear "onstar ready".
