Recently i watched the oil pressure on the tahoe and i noticed that when i slowed down then stopped the pressure dropped to about 1/4 (or 20 im assuming, since the middle is 40) anyway, when i give it gas it goes back to 1/2 (40). if i give it alot of gas then it goes a little, just a hair or so, past 1/2. for some reason i just noticed it mostly because the big box truck i drive does the same thing and its constantly in the shop for repairs! the box truck is diesel if that makes a difference. is this normal, should i be worried? any input would be great

I have noticed it on some dodge and chevy diesels and that seems to be normal :confused2: . You should be fine BUT keep an eye on it. also make your oil level is good too, that is the most important part.

I just noticed this as well. I didn't notice it until after I put synthetic oil in it, but maybe I am just sensitized to it now. Mine seems to range from about 30-50 though, and hovers around 35-40 most of the time. Does anybody know what the supposed "optimal" value is?

Keep a close eye on this. I noticed the same thing when I got my Tahoe and the dealer told me it was normal. About 2-3 months ago I got in my Tahoe to go to work and my Oil Pressure Warning Light came on. I turned the truck off and flabedded it to my dealer. The Oil Pump was bad...I posted a warning on the forum. The crazy part is after I got the new pump my gas mileage increased from 11-12.4 avg.

Rule of thumb guys......10lbs for every 1000 rpm's.
We all have better than that, so we're good.
You will notice a drop in pressure when the rpm's come down especially when oil is hot. Nothing to get crazy over unless your pressure is really in the crapper.
Octahoe.....how low was your pressure reading?
