Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and I have just recently purchased a 2001 Chevy Tahoe LT, 5.3 V8 2wd. The truck is completely stock with 115,000 miles and I run Mobil 1 synthetic in the engine and have just changed the spark plugs and wires. The truck runs as good as expected, but I want to release a little more power and performance, but not go too far overboard because I don't have an endless supply of cash.

I am currently scheduled to have my engine tuned by Black Bear Performance in December, and I was hoping to gain some knowledge as to other mods that need to be done prior to being tuned. I was thinking CAI, exhaust, etc. Keep in mind, I don't have a lot of cash, I just want to get the most out of my new tune. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I was thinking about putting in a transgo shift kit and a vette servo, and changing the fluid to synthetic? Good idea, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!

I would do all of the mooding prior to the bb tune, that way the correct tuning can done but there are the free retunes so if you don't do all the mods! I'd run Royal Purple Oil,all the mods you listed are good mods to do.Flowmaster and Mangaflow are really great mufflers and depends on what kinda of sound your looking for.CAI are not cheap on that note it also comes down to what you like oil or dry filter K&N,AEM,S&B are the front runners on here but alot people what they like or believe to be the best so just do some researching to find what works best for you.

Another great mod is forced induction. This squeezes more air into the engine providing more compression and a denser air/fuel charge in the cylinders.

My method was to install a 2500 watt power inverter under the hood and mount a large hair dryer (i chose a Vidal Sassoon model) right into the air intake snorkel.

Sure, I had to cut a hole into the hood for it to fit, but the sight of 2000 watts of pure hair drying power drives the chicks into so much of a frenzy that I have to beat them off with a stick.
