Hello everyone,
I hate to introduce myself with a request, but my wife is driving 8 hours tomorrow and I'm in a time crunch. So, sorry...

I've been digging in the searches for a while. I see a lot about motors and blades. A couple of threads about front washers....but nothing about this.

We have an 01 LT that we traded in 2004 and have NEVER had any problems with it so far! But tonight the wife tells me that there is a wire hanging down below the back drivers wheel. I go out and look , it's actually a hose. A black hose that's probably 1/4" inside diameter. But more oddly, is that it has a fitting on the end almost like that of a firewall grommet allowing it to "pop" into place.. It's dangling down behind the drivers rear...and it disapears up behind the strut.

I have a feeling that it's part of the rear washer assembly for some reason, but can't validate. I got up under there and could NOT see where it could possibly go.

Has anyone ever come across this? I don't have a service manual for it, and it's too late to pick one up tonight. I just don't want it to be related to brakes or something to do with safety, especially with her big trip.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

thanks,
Willy

Ok, so I did some manual testing of the washer system. Discovered that the lines run in the fender well of the drivers side. Discovered that the line was disconnected by the fuse box. Reconnected, and tried the washer again. The hose IS the rear washer hose. But still, I have NO idea where it needs to meet up with the tailgate portion.

Anyone know?

Can you post up a pic of the hose, and exactly where it's coming out? I have an 04, so I'll look for it. I looked tonight, but I did not see anything except a 1/4" black rubber hose that goes up toward the gas cap area.

When you say driver's rear, do you mean rear tire, or driver's derrier?

got it figured out.

I love the little "well that was stupid" lessons in life.

Sooo.....after ripping apart all the interior trim panels from the cargo area, I spotted the hose going DOWN from the top where it meets the hinged area of the hatch. It goes over to the drivers side of the hatch framing. Then it goes down inside the panel, down through the rear tail light assembly, and drops out DIRECTLY below that corner. Sooooo...if you ever find yourself not getting fluid to the rear washer, don't disassemble the truck. Just look under the drivers rear corner of the truck and you'll see the tiny black hose coming from the corner most piece. Make sure that's connected. Then make sure you are connected by the battery. And unless your pump is toast, I bet one of those is popped loose.:D

Anyway, thanks for the quick response. Far from being related to safety, and a quick fix at that. LOL!
