Hello All,
My name is Phillip, I work for the DOD. I'm currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. been here in hell for 7 months now. I have another 11 months to go.
I am not new to auto mechanics, new to 4WD, but that's about it. I currently own, and will not be selling, my beloved 2003 black cobra anniversary coupe.. brembo brakes, whipple charger, MM coil overs, V-spec 5th and 6th gears, 26 spline input shaft Centerforce DFX clutch, MM XL full length subframe connectors, LFP H/E 15 PSI. over 500 to the ground. built IRS, tinted windows, head cooling mod, MGW shifter and a bunch of other little stuff.
anyway, that was to let you know, I know a little about mechanics. I do all my own work. I started with a 1989 lincoln mark vii LSC with a 331 stroker and KB blowzilla blower, then to a 99 cobra, to this cobra.
I need a DD SUV so when I get back to the states and have time to make a family, I don't have to give up my toy. I'm wondering what the differences are out there between the 00-006 tahoe's and suburbans. I think I want the suburban due to the extra cargo capacity and actually being able to roll the windows down all the way. I'm wondering what engine options and other options were out there. any problem children. years to aim for? I want an arctic white one. I'll probably put a bull bar on it with some KC daylighters. and rewire the lights so the lows, highs, and fogs will all stay on at once and will convert all to HID's. probably won't do anything else to it. any trouble spots as far as mileage I should be looking at particular parts? also. is there any gas mileage difference between tahoe and suburban, and what do you guys realistically see? I only drive spirited in the cobra....any other modifications that you all have made that made life easier, or more enjoyable?
