Need help with 2004 Tahoe 4x4 Issue

At random times the red neutral (4x4 push button) light will come on when I start the truck. Some of the time it will go in to 2 Hi if I hit the button. Some of the time it takes a battery disconnect. That only works some of the time. Most of the time I have to wait a day or two and then the 4x4 functions will act normally for a random period of time. I don't have any type of service 4x4 lights. I have already replaced the switch. What is the most likely cause of the issue? TCCM? Actuator motor?

encoder motor. Actually its the encoder switch, but some people just replace the whole thing. It can be taken apart and just the switch replaced, but I believe it has to be re-soldiered. Its a common problem on 04-06's.
