ok i just for fun sat in the kon for about 45 minuites today and typed each and every code in the glove box on to the rpo code site provided on here, but i found a wierd discovery CODE NO. L25 which staits a 4.8l v-6, and no other engine codes, after a little redoing of other codes i found the right stuff like gear ratio and nav, tv, power seats, liquid silver color, etc. but only the v-6 engine, have i been kidding my self and i do have a v-6, it just seems too powerful to not be a v-8,m confused and if someone could tell me what i did wrong and/or give me the 5.3 liter v-8 code i would really appreciate it to get a good nights sleep.

Go pop your hood, and lift off the composite plastic engine shroud and count the plugs / distributor wires. Do you have 6, or 8? If that doesn't help, write your VIN down, call your dealer's service department tomorrow, and ask them to download and print the "build sheet" for your truck, and go by and pick it up... It's probably a "RPO Delete" code...

ok so were still like that, i know on my old gm suv's with distrubiter caps you could count the points and thats how many cylinders you had. i was not sure if that was still the same, because i did just that before i posted here.

So, you really only have a V6? They made a V6 4x4 Yukon XL? You're gonna have to change your sig again! DOH! And, I don't think it's a "distributor cap", I believe it's fully electronic ignition control, but there's still 6 or 8 plug wires and plugs...

BTW, what is that red / burgundy Suburban/Yukon in your member photo? Is that your previous ride before the beige/gold one?

no its a v-8 i just checked, but i know we dont use points any more, i was just askin before i did because i was not sure, i work on old cars, because most mechnic shops that i used to work at when i was 16 and 17 didn't see the nice or reletivly new. so thats why, and i learned two things today 1. i need to get better typing skills 2. dont touch the preety vortec engine cover after the vehicle has been run.

yes, that was my 99 gmc burban, but it supposed to be a blown up pic of my avitar, i must have clicked the wrong attachment when i put a pic up there. thanks for telling me that.

EDIT- CAN A MOD PLEASE MOVE THIS TO THE 00-06 TECHNICAL DESCUSSIONS? i didnt realise i had posted this in the wrong spot until now. sorry.
