Well I'm new here but I'll give it a try. I'm looking at a 2000 Z71. I should mention that I did have a 1997 LS at one time. My question is why is the mpg rating different between the two models. I've checked the engine size (5.7 in each), rear end gearing (3.73 in each) and outside of some extra hardware (front bumper guard and larger shocks) on the Z71 I don't understand how it could be this different. My 97 was rated for 15 city and 18 hwy when I actually got an average of 22mpg on the road. But the Z71 is rated 12 city 16 hwy. ?????? any ideas why there is such a difference? Any and all information would be a great help.
